WAKE UP FEELING LIKE ROYALTY
Honestly, who would not want to live in a stunning French Chateau? While many dream of the glamorous side of being a Chateau owner, fewer realize how difficult it can be to give those old and sometimes crumbling architectural gems a new life. In fact it can get quite challenging, so Channel 4 decided to dedicate a whole TV-show to the restoration of them.
These French Chateaux have been rescued and lovingly restored by adventurous Brits so you can come and stay in them. Get the royal feeling of waking up in a Chateau – and let us worry about maintaining it. Pick your favorite and see it in real life, or even better – make a tour and see them all! We’d love to have you staying with us.
Watch us chasing our French Dream on Channel 4
By moving to France and renovating their chateau, Dick & Angel have discovered that the French are not as interested in their old castles as we are. The floors are rotten, the walls are crumbling, they cost a fortune to maintain and they’re in the middle of nowhere. To the French, these are big problems. To the Brits, they can represent a lifelong dream and the promise of a real adventure. The series tracks a number of British families who have made or are in the process of making the monumental decision to leave home and chase the French dream. Whether the chateaus are complete wrecks, half-developed or almost finished, they are all utterly, jaw-droppingly spectacular.
Each one is unique, with design features to die for, from glorious hallways, ballrooms and grand sweeping staircases to pepper pot towers, cavernous bedrooms, mock battlements, gargoyles and stone family crests. The grandeur goes on and on. And all come with endless derelict outbuildings, lakes, moats and woods. But life in an elegant chateau can have its downsides. There is the language barrier; everything seems to be expensive, from water bills to astronomical heating costs, not to mention the long and sometimes lonely winters. To put it bluntly, maintaining a building thats falling apart at the seams is not for the faint-hearted. Loving the Show? Why not come and stay in your favorite Chateau and see it in real life. We’d love to have you!
